The focus
Environmental sustainability has become one of the most pressing challenges of our time. With issues like climate change and excess waste affecting communities across the globe, it’s more important than ever for organizations to take meaningful action. Triton recognizes that businesses play a vital role in shaping a sustainable future, not only through operational efficiency, but by fostering a culture of environmental awareness and accountability.
Across our offices, teams have taken steps to reduce environmental impact and encourage responsible practices. One example of this global commitment can be seen in the Lexington, Kentucky office, where sustainability has become a key focus area and a shared source of pride.
Our efforts
The Lexington team participated in Green Check, the City of Lexington’s sustainability certification program, and achieved gold, the highest level of recognition.
“Achieving gold in the Green Check program after a year of working toward a more sustainable office environment has been incredibly rewarding,” said Mary Jenkins, Software Quality Assurance Manager at Triton International. “It’s an honor to collaborate with the City of Lexington to promote environmental growth, and we’ll continue taking small steps toward making a greater difference.”
Notable improvements included replacing most office lighting with LEDs, installing energy-saving thermostats and occupancy sensors, transitioning to recycled paper, upgrading restrooms with water-efficient fixtures, and adding a bike rack to encourage greener commutes.
The impact
The Green Check achievement reflects both environmental progress and the power of teamwork. By working toward a shared goal, the Lexington team strengthened internal connections while setting an example for sustainable practices across Triton. Their efforts show that when we act together, local change can drive global impact.
