The focus
Members of the Purchase team recently volunteered with Feeding Westchester during Hunger Action Month, helping prepare fresh food for the organization’s Mobile Food Pantries. The pantries connect neighbors facing food insecurity with nutritious food and essential support across the community.
Our efforts
Working together, the group sorted nearly 8,000 potatoes and packed 664 bags for distribution. Volunteers placed 12 potatoes in each bag, while other team members tracked the number of completed bags along the way.
For many participants, the event was both their first Triton volunteer experience and their first visit to Feeding Westchester.
“I really enjoyed my first volunteer experience with Triton at Feeding Westchester,” said Giuliana Izzo, Corporate Paralegal at Triton International. “It was incredibly rewarding to come together as a team and support such an important cause. I’m grateful to be part of a company that not only values giving back but also encourages its employees to come together and make a positive impact on the community.”
After more than an hour of packing, the group toured the Feeding Westchester facility and learned more about how the organization serves the community.
The impact
Held each September, Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign that raises awareness of food insecurity and encourages communities to take action in the fight against hunger. By giving their time and working side by side, the Purchase team turned that call to action into practical support for local families while strengthening their connection to one another and the community.
